Here are a few more highlights from the autumn architectural scene that you can enjoy before you dig out your winter coat!
Archtober spans all of October. It acknowledges the architecture in New York City with a bevy of lectures, events, speakers, exhibitions, architecture walks, film screenings and more. This year, the festival’s theme is “5 Years, 5 Boroughs.” It’s a celebration of the impact of design and it should be a major draw for architecture students, archi-tourists, and New Yorkers who fancy a cool-looking building. Archtober has its headquarters at the Center for Architecture on LaGuardia Place in Greenwich Village. There will be more than 150 architecture and design lectures, conferences, programs and exhibitions happening at the center and other places throughout the city. 150 events divided by 31 days... that means you could go to almost 5 events a day, 7 days a week! You know what? Just take October off of work and immerse yourself in the architectural scene. Your landlord and boss will totally understand. If you can’t take the whole month off, try to hit the “Building of the Day” tour at lunch hour, usually guided by the architects themselves!
Open House New York (OHNY)is an event that happens around the world that gives unparalleled access to the city's most significant buildings and public spaces. OHNYwill be happening on October 17-18. Hundreds of sites across the five boroughs will be open for visitors to attend talks, performances and other events taking place all over the city.
