The Uptown neighborhood in the southwest corner of Minneapolis Minnesota is a popular area of town. However, it was lacking, It needed a central public space, something to really connect the community together and give people a place to read and relax. That need was met in the form of The Walker Library, built in 2014 on top of their former underground location. This library was designed purposefully to engage the public with the library, and give the people of Minneapolis a common area to connect and engage. The reading room is the central hub of the library that gives people an area to sit, do homework; some people even treat it as a office space. The Walker library is definitely a building that does more than just hold books.
